Teen Events this Week

The Boyle County Public Library hosts a variety of events for teens (ages 13-18). Julia Basil, our programming coordinator, offers regular weekly programs for teens including Teen Crafternoon, Teen Challenge (STEM), Teens Write, and Teen Book Club. This week we have two programs for teens:


Teen Challenge • Tuesday, February 21st at 4:00 p.m.

Teens can test their knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts and engineering design abilities at Teen Challenge. At this team competition, teens (ages 13-18) will compete in a Paper Airplane Cargo Challenge. This free program will be held in the Community Room at the Library.


Teen Book Club • Friday, February 24th at 4:00 p.m.

The Teen Book Club, for ages 13-18, will be discussing Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. Snacks will be provided. To receive a copy of the book, please see Julia at the Library.

Library to Host Teen Crafternoon

Teen Crafternoon will be held on Friday, February 3rd at 4:00 p.m. Led by Julia Basil, this monthly program features a different artistic craft or activity each month. At this session, participants will learn the art of book making. Teens can create a book to take home and use for a scrapbook, journal or sketchpad! This free event will be held in the Mahan Gallery and is open to all teens (ages 13-18). Call the Library to register.

Teen Events this Week

The Boyle County Public Library hosts a variety of events for teens (ages 13-18). Julia Basil, our programming coordinator, offers regular weekly programs for teens including Teen Crafternoon, Teen Challenge (STEM), Teens Write, and Teen Book Club. This week we have two programs for teens:


Teens Write • Tuesday, January 10th at 4:00 pm

This is a group for teens who love to write. Each month participants can bring a past original work to share, or they can participate in the monthly writing prompt. Teens Write meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the Conference Room.


Teen Crafternoon • Friday, January 13th at 4:00 pm

This monthly program features a different artistic craft or activity each month. In January, we’ll learn to make Japanese suminagashi prints. This free event will be held in the Community Room and is open to all teens (ages 13-18). Crafternoon is usually held on the first Friday of the month, however due to the inclement weather last week, we opted to rescheduled the program to this week.

Teen Challenge Tuesday at the Library

Teens can test their knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts and engineering design abilities at Teen Challenge on Tuesday, April 19th at 4:00 pm. At this month's team competition, teens (ages 13-18) will compete in an "Egg Drop Challenge."


This free program will be held in the Community Room at the Boyle County Public Library.

Library to Host Game Show-style Competition for Teens

The Library will host a new monthly program for teens (ages 13-18) called Teen Trivia. Each month participants will compete for prizes in a question-and-answer game show-style event. The questions will focus on a different topic each month. In March, the topic will be Technology. The first Teen Trivia contest will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 4:00 pm in the Community Room at the Library.
