This Week at the Library: April 3-7, 2017
The Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and Coding Clubs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:
Tween Book Club
Monday, April 3rd at 4:00 p.m.
The Library offers a monthly book club for tweens (ages 9-13). This month the group will discuss Half a Chance by Cynthia Lord. Snacks will be available. Any tweens interested in attending may register for the program by signing up in the Children's Library.
Kid's Homeschool Book Club
Wednesday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m.
This book club meets on the first Wednesday of the month. Led by Children’s Librarian Libby McWhorter, this book club is designed for children ages 5-8 and features a book discussion and trivia activities. This month, participants are reading Who Was Dr. Seuss? by Janet B. Pascal. Snacks will be served. Register for this club in the Children’s Library.
Thursday, April 6th at Noon
Beginning this Thursday, the Library will be hosting "Nutrition Condition," a health and wellness workshop series offered in partnership with the Boyle County Cooperative Extension Office. Workshop participants will find out their current state of nutrition, learn how to improve their nutrient intake, and learn how to eat better on a budget. This 8-week series will be held in the Community Room on Thursdays at Noon through May 25th.

This Thursday evening, the Library will host the Cookbook Club. The club is a discussion group that will explore the Library's large collection of cookbooks. Participants will make and share different recipes with the club. Each month will feature a theme. In April, the theme is Desserts. For more information or to register, contact Julia Basil at the Library. Registration is required.
Spring Film Series: Comedy Tonight! (Week 6)
Thursday, April 6th at 7:00 p.m.
The Friends of the Library continue with their annual Spring Film Series on Thursday evening. Films will be shown on Thursday evenings in the Community Room at the Library through mid-April. The post-film discussion will be led by Charles Vahlkamp. Popcorn will be available and there is no charge for admission.
This week we'll be showing the movie City Slickers. In this film from 1991, an unhappy Manhattan yuppie on the verge of turning 40 is roped into joining his two friends on a cattle drive in the southwest. A complete listing of the films can be found here.
Friday, April 7th at 4:00 p.m.
Teen Crafternoon will be held this Friday afternoon. Led by Julia Basil, this monthly program features a different artistic craft or activity each month. In April, we’ll be making T-shirt Tote Bags. This free event will be held in the Mahan Gallery and is open to all teens (ages 13-18). Call the Library to register.
Friday, April 7th at 4:00 p.m.
The Library will host LEGO Club on Friday afternoon in the Storytime Room. The finished LEGO creations will be placed on display in the Library.
