This Week at the Library: January 2-6, 2018

The Boyle County Public Library offers many fun, educational events throughout the year. Weekly programs include Adult Storytime on Mondays at 9:00 a.m., Crafters Who Care on Mondays at 6:00 p.m., Coding Classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., and Storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. In addition to these weekly events, the following Library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

Family Movie Night
Thursday, January 4th at 6:00 p.m.

The Library will host a movie night on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m., featuring the latest LEGO movie. All ages are welcome. Popcorn will be served. (Rated PG; 1 hr 41 min)

French Café
Thursday, January 4th at 6:00 p.m.

On Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m., the Library will host the first meeting of the French Café. At this “community requested-community led” program, people of all ages can gather together in a relaxed atmosphere to practice speaking French in casual conversation. This event is great for those who are fluent speakers as well as for those who are just learning the language. The French Café will be held in the Mahan Gallery at the Library on the first Monday of each month.

Kid’s Homeschool Book Club
Friday, January 5th at 2:00 p.m.

The Kid’s Homeschool Book Club will meet on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Led by Children’s Librarian Libby McWhorter, this book club is designed for children ages 5-8 and features a book discussion and trivia activities. This month, participants are reading Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse. Snacks will be served. Register for this club in the Children’s Library.

Friday, January 5th at 4:00 p.m.

The Library will host LEGO Club on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the Storytime Room. The finished LEGO
creations will be placed on display in the Children’s Library.

Drop-In Computer Help
Saturday, January 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Library will offer a Drop-in Computer Help Session on Saturday. Stop by for a short 1-on-1 computer or mobile device help session.


Dewey Pope Book Signing
Saturday, January 6th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The Boyle County Public Library will host an author visit and book signing with Dewey Pope on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. In Action Unlimited: The Band of Gold, Pope tells the story of a Kentucky band’s musical journey to the edge of stardom in the 1960s.
