Tween Summer Book Club
Monday, June 25th at 2:00 p.m.

The Library offers a monthly summer book club for tweens (ages 9-13). On Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., the group will discuss The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket. Snacks will be available. Any tweens interested in attending may register for the program by signing up in the Children’s Library.

Adulting: "Car Care" (Part 1: The Basics)
Monday, June 25th at 6:00 p.m.

On Monday evening at 6:00 p.m., the Library will host "Adulting," a monthly program series that explores the different skills adults need to thrive. This month’s program is a two-part series. In the first session, participants will learn the basics of how to stay safe on the road and keep a car running smoothly. This program is offered in partnership with the Boyle County Extension Office and will be held in the Community Room at the Library.

Mindfulness Monday
Monday, June 25th at 6:30 p.m.

Once a month, the Library provides a quiet space in the Mahan Gallery for anyone wanting to practice meditation and mindfulness. On Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., there will be a guided session led by Santosh David Smith.  As part of our "Community Led" events, this monthly series combines crafting and mindfulness education. This month participants will be making mindfulness bracelets. They will learn how to make the bracelet beads from scratch and how to use them to help promote mindfulness.


Teen Trivia
Tuesday, June 26th at 4:00 p.m.

On Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. the Library will host a teen trivia contest. Participants will go head-to-head with their peers in a battle of wits (no Googling allowed). This quiz show format event will include questions ranging in degrees of difficulty. This event will be held in the Community Room. (For ages 13-18.)


Mark Wood Disco Magic Show
Thursday, June 28th at 10:30 a.m.

The zany Mark Wood will bring his entertaining show about the importance of reading to the Library on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. "Disco Magic" is a fast paced show designed for children of all ages. Wood uses comedy, magic, and audience participation to produce an exciting and educational program. This event will be held in the Community Room. Due to limited seating, this will be a ticketed performance. The tickets are free and will be given out 30 minutes prior to the start of the show.


Dance Class: Beginning Ballet
Thursday, June 28th at 4:00 p.m.

The Library will host a beginning ballet class on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Led by instructor Michaela Stone, participants will learn the beginning steps of ballet. For ages 9-18.


Musical Movie Night
Thursday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m.

As part of the Summer Reading Program, on select Thursdays in June and July the Library will host musical movie nights featuring popular musicals. On Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., the Library will show Hairspray Live! a TV movie from 2016, about a teenage girl who dreams of appearing on a popular 1960s television dance show. (Rated TV-PG; 120 minutes)


Wild Earth: safariLIVE!
Friday, June 29th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon

On Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to noon the Library will host Wild Earth: safariLIVE, an award-winning, expert hosted live sunset safari broadcast directly from the wilderness in South Africa and Kenya. The unscripted show allows viewers to interact with an expert game ranger in real time while looking for leopards, lions, and cheetahs.


Adulting: "Car Care" (Part 2: Hands-on Training)
Saturday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m.

On Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m., the Library will offer Part 2 of the "Car Care" program. This session will focus on hands-on training. Participants will learn how to change a flat tire, check fluids and other parts on a car, under the supervision of two skilled mechanics. This program is offered in partnership with the Boyle County Extension Office and will be held in the Library Park. (Rain cancels.)
