D.I.Y. Up-cycle Workshop for Teens

The Library will host a D.I.Y. Up-cycle Workshop for teens on Friday, September 4th at 4:00 pm. At this monthly program, we'll give used or worn out items new life. In September we'll be turning old VHS tapes into bookends. This free event will be held in the Mahan Gallery and is open to all teens (ages 13-18). Registration is required. Summer Reading Grand Prize Winners Announced

The Library is pleased to announce the Grand Prize winners of the 2015 Summer Reading Program. Two new bicycles were donated by Webster Orthodontics in Danville to be given away in a drawing at the end of Summer Reading. All children who completed a reading log were entered to win.



Cassandra Lyons, (pictured here with Charlie Webster, son of Dr. Will Webster) and Ben Shreve (not pictured) were the lucky recipients of the bicycles. The children were able to select their new bikes at Danville Bike and Footwear.

Library to Host Social Hour for Senior Adults

The Library will host a Seniors' Social Hour on Wednesday, August 26th at 9:30 am. Each month the Library will host a social gathering of senior adults for an informational presentation about relevant topics. In August, local seniors will have the opportunity to get to know Maggie Myers, the Library's Adult Programming Coordinator. During this first meeting, Maggie will be seeking input from area seniors about possible topics of interest to be covered at future socials.


This free event will be held in the Community Room. Light refreshments will be served.

New Program Series for Adults

The Library will offer a monthly "Adult How-To" program series beginning on Monday, August 24th at 6:00 pm. Each month, participants will explore information and skills needed for a new hobby or activity, guided by a local expert. In August, the program "Adult How-To: Honey Bee Health" will feature local bee keeper Janis Scott. Program attendees will learn why honey bees are important and how we can promote pollinator health.


This free event will be held in the Community Room. Light refreshments will be served.
