Grand Opening Week Events
We're back!
Come see us on Jan. 10-16
You're invited to explore our larger, updated building and visit with special guests. The doors will be thrown open on Sunday, January 10th, to begin a week celebrating what surely must be the most magnificent library in any small town in America. If you don't believe it, come see for yourself!
Starting at 3pm on January 10th with a short ceremony and guest speakers there is a full week of events with library tours and special guests each day at 4pm:
MONDAY will feature Ben Franklin (the father of libraries) himself.
TUESDAY we'll have Josh Ives, the Lexington architect who oversaw the complete project.
WEDNESDAY you can talk with members of the Interiors Committee who picked every color, fabric, floor covering and piece of furniture.
THURSDAY, Stephen Powell, creator of the glass sculpture "Time Zippy" that graces our rotunda, will talk about his one-of-a-kind work.
FRIDAY will be Director's Day, a chance for you to meet and ask questions of Karl Benson and Georgia de Araujo.
SATURDAY, Janurary 16th, will be Children's Day with storybook characters giving library tours, refreshments, and favors for children of all ages. This closing celebration will be from 10a-2p.
