Irish-American Heritage Month

The library is proud to celebrate Irish-American Heritage Month in March.

More than 31 million Americans claim Irish heritage, making it one of the most common ancestries in the United States. According to the National Museum of Ireland, more than 6 million Irish people have emigrated to the U.S. since 1820.

While March is the official observance for all things Irish, the library is happy to celebrate Boyle County's ties to the Emerald Isle all year long. We will host visiting students from Danville's sister city of Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, in July. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook for more information about this special event!
