'The Remember Balloons'

About Lewy Body Dementia

October is Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) Awareness Month. LBD is the second most common form of dementia, only to Alzheimer's disease. Because the condition has so many common symptoms with Alzheimer's, LBD is under-diagnosed and not well understood. An estimated 1.4 million Americans are affected by LBD.

About Alzheimer's disease

Nearly 7 million Americans live with Alzheimer's, a type of dementia that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. To raise awareness of this progressive and incurable disease, the Alzheimer's Association marks November as Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month.

About The Remember Balloons Project

The library is teaming up with a number of other agencies and partners in Boyle County to promote awareness of these brain health conditions. A number of community events will take place in the coming weeks culminating with a live action adaptation of The Remember Balloons book at the Boyle County Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
