ONE BOOK Gardening Events at the Library

In collaboration with the ONE BOOK Community Reading Project, the Library will be offering special gardening-related programs and events.

Gardening Craft

On Monday, April 20th at 6:00pm, the Library will host Garden Pavers: Family Night. At this event, adults and children can work together to make a stepping stone for their spring garden. All supplies will be provided, but space is limited to 30 participants so registration is required. The Library will also host Garden Pavers for Kids & Tweens on Monday, April 27th at 4:00pm. Space for this session is also limited to 30 participants.

Special Event Storytimes

On Tuesday, April 21st at 11:30am and Wednesday, April 22nd at 10:30 am and 11:15 am, Ms. Libby will present Tiny Green Thumbs by C.Z. Guest at the Preschool and Homeschool Storytimes. Children in attendance will receive sunflower seeds to grow at home for a contest. Prizes will be awarded at the end of July for the tallest sunflower, the shortest sunflower, and the sunflower with the biggest diameter. Pictures of the sunflowers progress are encouraged and will be on display in the Children's Library.

The children will also be planting Mammoth Sunflowers at the Library on that day, and each child will be given a tree sapling which they can plant at home to celebrate Earth Day.

Arbor Day Event

On Friday, April 24th at 12:00pm the Library will host Arbor Day Tree Planting. Tree saplings will be given to the first 50 people to arrive. Instruction will be given on properly planting and caring for the tree.
